James BallJames first became interested in photography when he was fifteen years old. A second-hand Pentax 35mm SLR camera and a mixed set of Cokin filters ignited a life long passion for capturing and sharing interesting moments in time. After working as the UK Press Liaison for a multinational digital media company in England, James and his partner emigrated to New Zealand in 2002. He worked for a large Christchurch employer in the roles of web designer, product manager and graphic designer for the next five years. In 2008 he decided it was time to embrace over 20 years of digital imaging experience and make the switch to professional photographer. A commercial contract for a large NZ agricultural company gave James his first professional break. Covering the whole country in all possible conditions was a steep learning curve but worth every moment. Joining the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography in 2009 he earned his commercial photography qualification a couple of months later. He now divides his time between local wedding & commercial photography. Ever keen to expand his photographic knowledge, James is always up for a challenge.
