It is always a joy to shoot somewhere new. Thanks to Kaye and Dan, I was fortunate to visit Raetihi Lodge in the Marlborough Sounds for their wedding.
With a combination of fly, drive and boat it is more than your usual Saturday afternoon wedding. But the view and pure magic of the Sounds simply makes it worth it – even if drizzly or grey. More than that, destination weddings like Dan and Kaye’s always have a different feel. People come together as much for a holiday, than just a night out. The feel is intimate, and the essence of celebration infuses through all parts of the day. For this I always feel grateful to be included. Thank you!
Something that I was most impressed with was Kaye’s cake. She had carefully chosen a cheesecake, but not a cheesecake dessert, but real cheese tiered to look like a cake. But…not just any cheese, but all locally produced Marlborough cheese. I was most impressed, as in twelve years shooting weddings, this was the first time I had seen this. A real neat idea.
