Well, my faith has been restored.
The piece of kit I was after has a happy ending. It turns out the agent is a wholesaler, and does not supply direct to the public. (In which case, why not tell people that on your webpage, but that is another issue!).
Once aware of the concern, they have gone out of their way to source the one I am after. They even offered to match overseas pricing, as they try to stem the tide of parallel importing plaguing NZ sellers.
So I have to say a win win all round. I get the product (albeit a few weeks delayed) at a good price, from a NZ supplier. Just goes to show, a bit of perseverance and open dialogue can make a difference.
(PS – I still think they need to change their webpage – just saying!!).
