It was unfortunate I couldn’t make it last week, but by all accounts the launch of ‘More Than Water‘ was an absolute hit. Several hundred people packed a marquee at Lake Hood to hear Jenny Shipley announce the release of this book.
Written by Nathalie Brown, instigated by David West, More than Water tells of the development of Lake Hood in Ashburton. Developed on farmland seaward of Tinwald, Lake Hood came to fruition almost exclusively from hard work and visionary thinking. Trials and tests plagued the voluntary team of trustees at almost every turn. Yet through perseverance and a belief in themselves, the resulting aquatic park is now a true asset to the district.
The book is as much a historical legacy to those involved, as well as a testament to self belief and goal setting.
