With a minus three frost, diving into freezing mud doesn’t appeal much to me. Yet 750 secondary school students did that on Sunday morning.
Sport Canterbury and UC Continuing Education teamed up with the organisers of Mud Sweat and Tears (on next weekend), to develop a high school event. Tripling in numbers from last year, high school teams competed on the 5km endurance course. Participation is the key, though the fastest entrants completed it in around 20mins. The best part is seeing people just fizzing afterwards. Great stuff.
PS – I am told I even made a brief appearance on TV as part of news coverage that evening. I didn’t see it but seems quite a few people did!
