Update for May

It has been a while, I know!! No surprise given the absence of recent posts, things have been a bit hectic. After a slower period a few weeks ago, it is quite the storm now. Staff profiles, Balls, training aids, promotion pieces, web sites, weddings, professional profiles – it’s all on it seems! Dont get me wrong, I love it and are happy about. Usual story, if you want something done give it to someone busy. Just when you think you have your week sorted, there is a twist, turn, or change. I guess that is why I love what I do.

After some enquiries following my initial posts, I have shot a few more picture today about central CHCH. I liked a recent TV3 feature titled the New Normal. I think post-quake in CHCH that is dead right. We have a new normal. Dirty cars are the new normal. Waits at operational cafes now just the new normal. Munted is the new buggered. Road works are the new normal. Monday night at a suburban bar is like Cup Week Saturday! I think suburban bar owners will be the true winners!

Yet life goes on, and I have to fess up, people who I see regularly are extremely positive. There is quite an air of optimism, not of gloom or recession as you might expect. You will see below many sites are now being cleared. Often when passing an cleared space, you struggle to think what was there beforehand! I think many CHCH folk welcome a new chance, the opportunity of building something neat. It might just be a fortunate thing that I still have family, my job, my house intact. Though I dont think it is just me.
